Michael Baker International has announced that Michael Rudinica, P.E., a leading water resources expert, has joined Michael Baker International to lead the firm’s Water and Wastewater practice. Mr. Rudinica, who has worked at Michael Baker in the past, will play a key role in Baker International’s water and wastewater initiative, announced by CEO, Kurt Bergman, to expand the firm’s water engineering business in response to client needs in the U.S. and internationally.
“I am excited to have Mike Rudinica back to lead this critical, growing market,” indicated Kurt Bergman, CEO. “He is and has been in the forefront of water and wastewater engineering developments and initiatives for over 30 years. As we developed this initiative, we knew from the start that we wanted Mike’s experience, leadership and legacy leading this effort.”
“I decided to join Baker International because of the new ownership/management team. Both the Chairman, Tom Campbell and CEO, Kurt Bergman impressed me with their strategic vision and focus on executing that vision,” said Mr. Rudinica. “While being part of a $1.3 billion dollar company is exciting in itself, the concept of growing the water/wastewater market to better serve our clients and provide a more complete set of skills for clients is exactly in line with my past history at RBF, a legacy Baker company, and Baker International. The energy, excitement and commitment of the new leadership made me want to be a part of this team again.”
In the US and around the world, managing our water infrastructure is one of the biggest challenges facing the water sector. The ability to provide clean water is essential to protecting human health and the environment. Many communities are facing challenges with their water infrastructure—often comprised of aging systems in need of significant upgrade and repair. Growing populations increase the need for innovative water and wastewater engineering solutions.
Baker International’s 90 offices around the world bring extensive breadth and depth of high level expertise and experience in engineering, operations and maintenance aspects of water supply, wastewater treatment, recycled water and desalination projects. Baker’s portfolio of projects and people have been recognized by consistently being ranked as one of the top 20 engineering and design firms in the nation by Engineering News Record for water. The firm’s plans for expansion under Mr. Rudinica’s leadership are expected to have global reach with significant increases in water projects due to the growing need for infrastructure, clean water and water control initiatives.
Mr. Rudinica is the past International Engineer of the Year and 2013 ASCE-OC Civil Engineer of the Year. He has been involved in major water and wastewater infrastructure projects, including seawater reverse osmosis plants for international resorts. He has a BS and MS from Loyola University in Engineering, is currently on the Board of Trustees for LMU and is Chairman of its Board of Regents.
