John James Audubon Bridge


Location: Pointe Coupee & West Feliciana Parishes, Louisiana

Michael Baker International provided program management and construction management services for the design-build delivery of the 3,186-foot-long John James Audubon Bridge over the Mississippi River—the longest cable-stayed structure in the Western Hemisphere and a critically important regional transportation link. As program manager and construction manager, Michael Baker served as the owner's representative, overseeing contractor performance and providing quality assurance services. Michael Baker's tasks included assisting in coordinating the pre-construction meeting and assisting in contractor selection; developing and monitoring the critical-path schedule; preparing and executing the contract; coordinating the partnering process; coordinating community outreach; tracking costs; performing constructability reviews; performing construction management, including claims review; overseeing inspections; verifying that work complied with plans and specifications; and overseeing the preparation of as-built drawings and project closeout documents.
