Michael Baker International provided infrastructure master planning, programming and civil design services for the 27-acre medical center campus and Kaiser Permanente Anaheim Hospital Replacement Project. The new campus will consist of a six-level hospital developed in three phases with over 250 beds. The hospital will include operating rooms, labor and delivery rooms, Emergency Department bays, a medical office building, hospital support building, a central utility plant, and parking structure. Future plans will accommodate additional ancillary support facilities, beds, parking, plus administrative and medical offices. Michael Baker prepared the utility master plan and designed the infrastructure for the Anaheim Kaiser medical campus. Analysis took into consideration utility requirements for each facility, the potential maintenance, needs for future development as well as making provisions to meet impending OSHPD regulations. Campus utility coordination included electrical, cable, telecommunications, natural gas, potable water, sanitary sewer, storm water, steam, medical gases, fire protection systems, and pneumatic air. Michael Baker prepared safety plans pertaining to the on-site fire protection system and assisted the design team in the OSHPD plan approval process and testing inspection observation. Additionally, coordination of the phasing of the backbone infrastructure to accommodate simultaneous construction was necessary. Michael Baker has also provided construction administration services, including bidding and negotiation support, construction coordination and final record drawings.
