Pittsburgh (July 30, 2014) - Michael Baker International has announced that Timothy J. Bond has joined the Company as Vice President and Managing Director in charge of the Middle East and North Africa. He will be based in the United Arab Emirates (Abu Dhabi) where he will establish and manage one of Baker’s key international offices. In this important leadership role, Bond will be responsible for developing and expanding the firm’s clientele and portfolio in these regions through the pursuit and acquisition of design and consulting contracts, with a special focus on providing architecture and engineering services.
Commenting on his new role at Michael Baker International, Bond stated, “My aim is to implement and execute winning business strategies that cover the firm’s entire range of capabilities to further increase Baker’s reach in the growing Middle East and North Africa markets. The great depth of knowledge and expertise that the firm offers are invaluable assets when building and expanding a business internationally, and I am excited to begin the process of developing and growing the firm’s geographical presence.”

Bond has over 34 years of experience in business development, planning, design, and construction and design build in the U.S. and internationally, with specific experience in the Middle East region. Most recently, Bond was at WS Atkins & Partners as the Managing Director of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. His previous leadership positions include General Manager, Saudi Arabia, for Parsons International Limited and Vice President, Middle East North Africa Regional Operations Manager for PARCOMM. Bond has extensive experience in participating in senior-level negotiations to identify, win, mobilize, and implement multiple international consultant contracts ranging from $2 million to $452 million. Additionally, Bond has successfully started new businesses in the Middle East; he was responsible for leading and executing all business development efforts for two start-up businesses in Saudi Arabia and one each in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Bond holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of New Haven and a Master of Engineering in Civil Engineering from the University of Florida. He is a registered civil engineer in the states of California and Texas and is a certified project management professional. Tim Bond was also a Navy Civil Engineer Corps Officer from 1978 to 1995, where he attained the rank of Commander.
